In four days you will see the capital and the glaciers of Ala-Archa, a medieval Silk Road minaret, stay with a family in the Chon-Kemin valley, walk through red canyons and meet eagle hunters on the south shore of Issyk-Kul.
MorningMeeting at your hotel. Bishkek city tour — Ala-Too Square with the changing of the guard, Oak Park, the Manas Monument and Victory Square. Learn about the Soviet past and the nomadic present.
AfternoonDrive 40 km to Ala-Archa National Park (2,200 m). Hike along the Ala-Archa River through juniper forest and alpine meadows with views of Semenov-Tian-Shansky Peak (4,895 m). Visit the old Soviet alpine camp and the Ak-Sai waterfall trail.
EveningReturn to Bishkek. We recommend dinner at the Supara ethno-complex. Overnight in Bishkek.

MorningDrive to Burana Tower — an 11th-century minaret of the Karakhanid state on the Silk Road. Climb the tower and see the balbals (6th-century stone warriors), petroglyphs and the museum.
AfternoonContinue to the Chon-Kemin Valley — a national park with pine forests and wild rivers. Check in at a family guesthouse, walk around the village and meet the locals.
EveningHome-cooked dinner — boorsok, laghman, fresh jam — and stories about nomadic life. Lunch and dinner included. Overnight in Chon-Kemin.

MorningDepart through the Boom Gorge — a dramatic canyon between the mountains — with a photo stop at the Chu River.
AfternoonKok-Moinok Canyon — red labyrinths carved by the wind. Then Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon — a Mars-like landscape of orange, red and yellow rocks with a panorama of Issyk-Kul, a lake about 180 km long.
EveningArrival in Tosor village on the south shore. Homestay with an Issyk-Kul family.

MorningJeti-Oguz — the red Seven Bulls rocks and the legend of the Broken Heart. A short 30-minute hike to a viewpoint with yurts and horse herds; you may meet nomads making kymyz.
AfternoonBarskoon Gorge — the Tears of the Leopard and Manas Bowl waterfalls and the Soviet truck memorial to Yuri Gagarin. In Bokonbaevo — a thrilling eagle hunting show with a golden eagle and Taigan hounds, plus a shyrdak felt carpet workshop where local women demonstrate the ancient craft.
EveningDrive back to Bishkek (3.5 h) through the Boom Gorge. Drop-off at your hotel.
