Day-by-day itinerary

  1. Day01

    Bishkek — Kok-Moinok — Bokonbaevo

MorningDepart Bishkek at 08:00. Drive through the Boom Gorge, where the road and the river squeeze between 3,000 m cliffs. Photo stop at the Chu River and the old Soviet road.

AfternoonKok-Moinok Canyon — a hidden gem: unlike busy Skazka, here you are alone. Walk among 100 m high red labyrinths, narrow passages and caves — like the Grand Canyon, only redder, and drone-friendly. Continue to Bokonbaevo, an authentic Kyrgyz village on the south shore where people still live traditionally by fishing and herding.

EveningHomestay in Bokonbaevo. Home-cooked dinner — fried Issyk-Kul fish, boorsok, fresh ayran. Meet the family and sleep in a traditional house with a mountain view.

  2. Day02

Eagle Hunting Show and Fairy Tale Canyon

MorningEarly wake-up for the eagle hunting show (UNESCO-listed heritage). A local berkutchi shows how he raises a golden eagle from a chick; the eagle hunts with a lure and a fox skin. Then the Taigan — fast Kyrgyz hunting hounds similar to greyhounds. Learn the ancient hunting philosophy: man, bird and dog as brothers.

AfternoonDrive to Skazka (Fairy Tale) Canyon — the most surreal place in Kyrgyzstan. 2–3 hours of walking among natural sculptures — the Great Wall, the Dragon, the Sleeping Giant, the Castle. Colours change from orange to blood-red with the sun. A huge panorama of Issyk-Kul — the world's second-largest alpine lake, which never freezes.

EveningOvernight at a guesthouse in Tosor. Dinner with the family and a walk along the lake beach.

  3. Day03

    Barskoon and Jeti-Oguz

MorningBarskoon Gorge, sacred to the Kyrgyz. Hike to two waterfalls: Manas Bowl, where according to legend Manas bathed, and the 20 m Tears of the Leopard. See the memorial to Yuri Gagarin, who rested here after his space flight, blue spruce forests and grazing yaks.

AfternoonJeti-Oguz Gorge — the Seven Bulls, massive red sandstone rocks 30 m high, and the legend of the seven bulls. A 30–40-minute hike to the Broken Heart rock — perfect for photos. Meet nomads making kymyz in their yurts; an optional one-hour horse ride across an alpine meadow.

EveningDrive to Karakol, a Russian-style town founded in 1869. Check in at the guesthouse; optional banya.

  4. Day04

Cholpon-Ata Petroglyphs and Return to Bishkek

MorningEarly departure to the north shore. The Cholpon-Ata Petroglyphs open-air museum: over 2,000 stones with 5,000 carvings from 2000 BC to the 4th century AD, left by Scythians, Usuns and Turks — ibex, snow leopards, hunters, chariots. A wide panorama of the lake and the 4,000 m Kungey Ala-Too range.

AfternoonDrive back to Bishkek (250 km) through the Boom Gorge, with a lagman lunch stop at an authentic café.

EveningArrival in Bishkek around 18:00. Drop-off at your hotel. End of the tour.
